Our Impact
Empowering Communities, Conserving Nature, Enabling Education
With a focus on community empowerment, wildlife conservation education, and support for Children With Disability (CWD), we’ve touched numerous lives. We work alongside local communities for sustainable livelihoods that reduce poverty, and provide crucial education support to overcome barriers to growth. Join us in creating a brighter, inclusive future.
Projects
Women Empowerment Program
We work with local communities to increase their capacity to develop sustainable livelihood options that reduce poverty by improving the economic status of vulnerable women through income-generating programs and reducing the marginalization of women by enabling them to become self-reliant.
Human Wildlife Conflicts Mitigation
Human wildlife conflict still a major conservation challenge in Tanzania. ECIO works with pastoral communities to reduce risks by supporting cost sharing construction of environmentally friendly corrals, strengthening awareness on coexistence, and training households in practical, community-led approaches to prevent and manage HWC effectively.
Education
The Pastoralist Maasai Community has an illiteracy rate of approximately 75% due to restricted educational opportunities, particularly for women and girls. The aim of ECIOs education programs is to improve education access and increase girls’ school enrollment.
Supporting Children with Disabilities
In some Maasai communities, disability is often misunderstood and seen as a curse. ECIO works to challenge these harmful beliefs through awareness, community education, and by guiding families to appropriate medical care and support services promoting dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all.
Climate Change
In this programme, ECIO empowering communities with knowledge that would help to control climate change effects, by establishing climate change adaptation strategies that would help affected communities be resilience to climate shocks.
